That looks like a on engine Volvo filter , I can't really tell what size it is but it seems that it maybe small ?

thanks friends
So you have:
Tank -> "REC 3840335" Filter -> "Motor Filter" -> High Pressure Pump -> Injectors ?????

What size (Microns) are the 2 filters you have? I would use a 30 with water separator first, then a 10 and finish with a 5, 3 or 2 micron (= 3 stages of filtration).

I don't see anything to get the water out .. might consider something like this:

Think is is 10-micron, no specs.
Should have 20 or 30 to start with, then 10-micron 2nd stage, finishing up with 5-micron or 3-micron final stage to clean up this mess.

May need Alga-X system to kill the crud!

To kill the algae have used the product in the refinery using Repsol with biodiesel since sulfur removed. I managed to kill the algae but now I have nthat draw. Pre try placing two 20 micron filters, the filters of 10 microns dospre current and the two engine ffiltros 5 microns. I hope that it gets rid of the problem

Thanks to all

I just changed the tanks in my 1977 f32...I had to cut the salon floor, but it was not bad at all. Once the floor came out, I tipped the tanks up and out. The first cut was the hardest but after that, she goes back together. I used 2" angle aluminum to support the floor after the rebuild. No issues and the tanks are in and secure. Would you like some pictures?

In case you wanted to see how I made the cuts. Never cut any teak. These are 318's so I am not sure if your diesels are wider or not. But I was able to remove the stock 50 gallon tanks easily by removing the floor.

You cut the floor to remove them huh? Interesting.

With the 305 Mercs you olny have to remove the outboard exhaust manifolds and you can slip them out that way. They are pretty narrow at the top IIRC. Under a foot, and they taper from there.

I had thought about that...and probably should have tried it...but the prior owner, an engineer by trade did it on Another captain's f32 and said he had to cut so I went that way. I had my manifolds and risers off last year and just felt cutting was the best option.

I have been told it still won't come out with the manifolds removed . I know on the F 36 its not hard to remove the floor above the tank .

Maybe so with a 318. I don't really know. I'm willing to bet I can get them out though with the Chevys. I've already measured, and last I checked I am an engineer. (Clarkson says so anyways.) :)

Be carefull if it is still hard piped...That makes it hard to tip and turn the tank to get the correct angles to get it out...That filler pipe hung way off in the back of my set up. That was one of my main reasons to cut vs. tip and turn. My tanks were also coated for protection from the manufacture, so I also wanted to have enough room so I did not scratch them.
