A group 31 battery being maintained by a solar panel. Connected to a bilge pump located under the stairs.

I have my battery cables passing through a hole in the bulkhead.

Does anyone know what that hole is for?

Does anyone know what the area the battery is setting in. is supposed to be used for?

The hole is a limber hole in the bulkhead. It allows water to pass through between compartments should there be an issue with water getting into bulkhead, say by a faulty bilge pump...
The space on your model, can't tell...just looks like a shelf someone laid on top of your stringers. Maybe just somewhere to put what looks like your solar powered hammer!

It's difficult to say exactly from the picture, but on my boat on the port side immediately as you come into the cabin is a hanging locker.

Is this the location of the picture?

My batteries are located in the engine compartment on plywood that's spanning between the stiffeners. The starting battery is adjacent to the transmission on the port side. While the house batteries are aft of the port side tank on a wood platform (which is in a different location that what is shown in the picture, picture is not current). I had to move the house battery because I put in a wider fuel tank.

As dog house stated, it looks like your battery is in the port side locker floor.

I thought the fuel filter was to close to exhaust. Moved it outboard.

The cabinet has been removed. Think I will keep battery there for easy access.

The three wooden panels in the V berth will give you access to the bilge underneath. Underneath the wood in the floor part of the center trapezoid is a 20 gallon water tank. You should be able to see the sides of it by lifting the two side wooden panels of the V berth. You should be able to see the back of it by lifting the wooden panel in the floor. If it hasn't been used in a long time, a thorough rinsing with a bleach solution is probably in order.

The V drive part I can see in the picture of your bilge pump doesn't look like the original Model 6A V drive. The V drive that originally came with these boats looks like this.

Image

It kind of looks like someone replaced the 6A model V drive with a 6B or 6C model. What does the ID plate on your transmission say? Can you post a picture of your V drive?

Thanks for the info. The V- drive actually cam out of and Silverton.
I did some research and found out they are like a sister ship to the trojan's.

It looks like a Paragon Model 6B V drive. Since the 6B V drive is not water cooled your cooling system must have been modified to go from the manifolds directly to the transmission fluid cooler. You're right, each of these Trojans is like a snowflake. No two are identical. :o

Sorry I borrowed a pic
Is this the end cap off exhaust?
After about 10 min of run time water stops coming out of my stbd exhaust.
After engine cools down the same thing. Should these be cleaned periodically?
If so how?

Hey, that's my hand. These are the 90 degree exhaust elbows on a Chrysler. This is where the exhaust mixes with the raw water prior to the mufflers. Over time they corrode if you run in salt water. Also, your exhaust manifolds will do the same thing if you are raw water cooled as well. I think their life span is about 5 years if you don't flush after each use. I've heard of people cleaning these but depending on their condition, it may be worth a new change out.

When I replaced my engine I set it up with fresh water cooling. Only the heat exchanger, transmission cooler, v-drive and exhaust elbows see salt water. The engine and exhaust manifolds are in a closed system with antifreeze.

If the water stops coming out after 10 minutes it might have to do with your thermostat redirecting the water once the engine warms up. Are you sure the engine plumbing is set up correctly? Also check your water pump and impellers. I know the older raw water cooled thermostats on the Chrysler are the pass through type and don't look like the typical thermostats. Make sure you have the correct one.

I am fwc for internal and raw water for everything else. I think I will try cleaning the port one. The stbd flows just fine.

After a good cleaning.

Removed head bulkheads for replacement. Wood was rotted save of patterns.

Next question had my alt rebuilt a few years ago. marine grade with spark cover. The new one has and internal regulator.
Two leads. On goes to battery wheres the other go?

Need to replace that toilet. Is it worth anything?
Was thinking replace with porta potty. Any suggestions?
