Tropical Storm Sandy boats

Post by summer storm »

I don't know if anyone else has noticed but ebay has a few Tropical Storm Sandy boat up for auction. I am sure with 65,000 boats trashed we will see more and although the sellers are listing the boats as storm boats (no choice I think because of the photos) sooner or later these boats will be up for sale again in the years to come. I am wondering if anyone (surveyors/insurance companies) are recording the VIN numbers so years from now we will be able to know if that future dream boat has spent any time in a tree.

Better in a tree then under one . I think some states are branding titles of totaled boats now . But i don't think there is anything in the works on documented boats onther then seeing if a insurance or salvage company has owned it .

There is also boatfax , but like Carfax not everything reported ( not the same company as car fax ) and boat history report .

https://boatfax.com/

http://www.boathistoryreport.com/

If a Car is totaled and sold it would get a branded title . BUT if it "sold back" to the owner the title never changes hands so nothing is ever recoreded

FWIW , I would not put a lot of fath in these reports
