Today's Nautical Trivia

Post by Stripermann2 »

In the old days, women were said to bring bad luck on board a ship because they distracted the sailors from their sea duties. This kind of behavior angered the intemperate seas that would take their revenge out on the ship. Funny enough, naked women on board were completely welcome. That's because naked women "calmed the sea". This is why ships' typically had a figure of a topless women perched on the bow of the ship. Her bare breasts "shamed the stormy seas into calm" and her open eyes guided the seamen to safety.

Now that you know...what's the moral of this story?

Maybe that explains why I see more naked women sunning topside while 3 miles off shore?

I don't know, is it that a naked woman is needed to guide seamen to safety?????

Is it that if a naked woman is on the bow, the watch will always be looking forward and so collisions are avoided????
I needed a less expensive hobby, so I bought a boat!

Naked women on boats? A very old tradition that I strongly believe in.
