I can't imagine the despair, loneliness and thoughts that went through this poor man's head...all knowing what lied ahead in a short time. Great story and video of survival and rescue.

Wow, that's an amazing story. Always feels good to hear happy endings. Thumbs up to the survivor and good on the diver for keeping his cool. I dive and I would have s**t my pants if I saw a hand come out at me after I just pulled out 4 bodies!
She was a 1969 36 ft wooden beauty with big blue 440s that we'll miss forever.

unbelievable. I wonder what would have happened if he swam out at 100 ft. Would he get the bends?

I'm not a diver but my understanding is that if you were to free dive, using no compressed air, to that depth and then ascended at a controlled rate, no problem. I think in this case, it has to do with the carbon dioxide and nitrogen issues. Someone else can probably explain...summer storm wrote:unbelievable. I was a rescue swimmer in the Coast Guard during my early twenties. I can tell you for sure I would have Sh-t myself if I was the one who found him and he grabbed my hand after I grabbed his.
This is an amazing story. Like someone else had said... I cant imagine what was going through that guys mind for 72 hrs This man is destined for great things and he is still here for a reason.
God bless him.
