Mine is a '78 F-32 in South Jersey out of Bass River. Sounds like fun!

[quote="Cmount"]How about the weekend of the 15th in august in Port Jeff?[/quote

Port Jeff village is a nice location, great main street, plenty of restaurants and nightlife.

Or maybe further East?

Middle of August seems like a good target date...

Well port Jefferson is a 95 mile hike I'm willing but have questions will there be plenty of open docks there ? If a whole bunch of us go there we would all need dock space. Or some major dingys lol the median point is somewhere near city island ny other than the lighthouse restaurant I don't know much about the island. I also like the sound of fire island great place to relax plenty of restaurants and bars and plenty of room to moor and dock. Thoughts ?

The place to stay in Port Jeff that could handle this would be Danfords Hotel & Marina, right smack in the middle of the village:

http://www.danfords.com/

This destination is about downtown, nightlife, cool places to eat, very busy, typical village on the water.

Now Fire Island is one of my favorite boating destinations, no cars permitted besides emergency vehicles, numerous small towns to explore, the BEST little neck clams to catch and eat, its only about 30 miles long and less than a mile wide making it very easy to walk from the bay side to the ocean side to enjoy the best of both have to offer, more of a vacation desination/island feeling.

There are 3 towns with marinas that could handle this.

Atlantique- furthest town west, walk to Ocean Beach which is biggest town on fire island with most restaurants and bars, but OB is very strict about everything, good to visit and that's it. Here is a link to a good read on Atlantique:

http://www.loving-long-island.com/atlantique.html

Then on the East end of the Island we have Davis Park_ Huge 250 slip marina, really only 1 bar/restaurant, mixed families and singles.

Next town east is Watch Hill- One of my favorites, family oriented state park, tent camping available too, sweetest little neck clams are found here on the bay side, 1 restaurant & 1 snack bar, a 10-15 minute walk west to next town which is Davis Park

Whichever would be chosen, definitely need to take water taxis or dingys over to sunken forest which is 300 year old and has a 1.5 mile boardwalk through the middle going through bogs and offers great picture opportunities.

Deer are everywhere on fire island but they keep to themselves and people leave them alone.
