New to the forum, about to buy a trojan express 10 metre

Post by Raydogz »

Hi

I am in the process of purchasing a Bertrum Trojan 10 m express cruiser, which was re powered with crusader 8.1 litre engines in 2009, it currently has 172 hours on the engines, I have a couple of questions,

1 I don't intend to go fast very often if at all around Sydney harbour, probably just 8 knots or so, the present owner is saying approx 30 litres an hour ... Does this sound right?

2 the vberth seems very small, can it be reconfigured easily?

3 is this a good sea going boat, whilst I intend to be mainly in the harbour, I would like to take the odd trip up the coast

Thanks, look forward to your responses and thanks for adding me to the group

Cheers

Welcome to the forum

I suspect it may do slightly better then 30 liters (apox 8 gal) a hour at 8 knots . IMO its a good sea going boat for its size . "the vberth seems very small, can it be reconfigured easily ? " IMO not easily .

RWS I suspect Australia as he will be boating in "Sydney harbor"

I keep getting the following message from the link

Your access to this site has been limited

Your access to this service has been temporarily limited. Please try again in a few minutes. (HTTP response code 503)

Reason: Access from your area has been temporarily limited for security reasons

Important note for site admins: If you are the administrator of this website note that your access has been limited because you broke one of the Wordfence firewall rules. The reason you access was limited is: "Access from your area has been temporarily limited for security reasons".

If this is a false positive, meaning that your access to your own site has been limited incorrectly, then you will need to regain access to your site, go to the Wordfence "options" page, go to the section for Firewall Rules and disable the rule that caused you to be blocked. For example, if you were blocked because it was detected that you are a fake Google crawler, then disable the rule that blocks fake google crawlers. Or if you were blocked because you were accessing your site too quickly, then increase the number of accesses allowed per minute.

If you're still having trouble, then simply disable the Wordfence firewall and you will still benefit from the other security features that Wordfence provides.

If you are a site administrator and have been accidentally locked out, please enter your email in the box below and click "Send". If the email address you enter belongs to a known site administrator or someone set to receive Wordfence alerts, we will send you an email to help you regain access. Please read this FAQ entry if this does not work.

I had many foreign countries blocked for security reasons.

I just opened up Australia.

Try it now and let me know the results, please.

Yes all working, thank you.

I have put my offer in on the 10 meter Bertrum Trojan express cruiser, after the initial in water survey which showed the boat in good order, just hoping the seller accepts.

Raydogz....... I just received the same "Yahoo doesn't support this internet site" when I signed in to the forum. I had to click on a "continue at your own risk" link.

I don't know why this is occurring but it's not uncommon. I'm on an Apple computer and recently Apple and Adobe had some kind of falling out which cancelled my ability to visit some sites that I'm regularly on. Just saying.

Raydogz, what year is your 10 meter??

those engines are a good choice for this boat.

They were initially my first choice, but later became my second choice when I decided to go diesel.

You can expect better fuel economy and range with those as well as a better economical cruise, provided you are propped correctly.

Thanks RWS,

The owner had replaced gearboxes, ZF drives I think he said, plus new shafts and 4 blade props, I had the pre inspection survey completed yesterday, and the surveyor reported the boat to be in great shape and very well converted to the crusader engines and drive gear... So fingers crossed.

Having said that, it would appear these boats bring a much higher dollar here than they do in the states, I am paying 70k Aussie, which is approx 100k US
