I have received more than 3 tons teak wood planks (8" x 3" x 4 meter), and we will make a big, nice and stable swimplatform. Gonna make it 4 ft. long. We will also do the aft deck in teak plank, as well in the saloon.

So why reinforce the aft corners?

No Dave! It was reinforced when I got the boat. I have removed the plates from the corners. But I can´t understand why the owner have put them on, unless he was a bad boater which used to collide with the docks around, or maybe used to drive in heavy ice conditions...

Was the fiberglass damaged under those metal corner pieces? If so, a previous owner was probably a "dock whacker".

The corners was not damaged, nor cracked. I guess pre owner must been nervous about docking. And yes, I am having great fun working on the boat. But on the oposite side my wife hate the boat. Funny..... Last summer she begged for a ride, now it is only a rotten hull for putting money into. I guess she want me to sell the project for a RV. But NO!! It all started with my aircraft. She didn´t like flying. When I lost my medicals she told me I could sell the plane and buy a boat instead. Well, I didn´t buy a boat, I bought a Trojan. It´s a big difference. I have tried to explain it for my wife, but no....
Anyway; I can stay alone in the workshop all day long, having fun with my boat. She can stay home.....

use caution on a 4' long swim platform.

this will likely create a serious problem when you

(a) get on plane

(b) come off of plane

Please note that many or the Trojan swim platforms were designed with open slots.

This was intentionally done as a means for the force of water to be reduced.

Yes RWS! I have read about the problems with platforms and possible drag behind the boat. In this case I will "lift" the platform up about 5 inches higher than original, and at the same time make it longer. Maybe I will try to lift it more than 5 inches (6-7) just to prevent the drag, not sure yet. I will check with my computer and drawing programme. In fact I use the same program for the aircrafts we are working on. And I guess they are quite similar, both boats and planes....? (at least the prices...) I will also use the old design with steel tubes and teak planks, and I thing there should be enough airflow underneat the platform in this configuration. Or....?
