17' Trojan Marlin

Post by veetz »

Hi all,

This was my grandfather's, and has been docked in a barn for almost 40 yrs. I'm planning on taking her on this summer & restoring her with my dad. However, we know very little about boat restoration! I am reading about all the projects here and am sure to have many questions for you all.

Thank you all! I will begin the restoration in 2 weeks, and will periodically post pictures & updates like others have done.

The boat has been home to rats/mice in a barn, and therefore, I want to disinfect the boat. I'm going to take the boat for a good wash, but does anyone have any recommendations on what to use (or not to use) to disinfect (i.e. Pinesol) it?

I saw this picture of your boat, & was amazed at the similarities it has with a boat that my Dad had purchased back in 1958 in Ft. Worth, TX. It has the identical boat trailer, & being a Trojan Marlin. Out of curiosity, I have been searching the internet to see if I could possibly find my Dad's old boat. Given the fact that these type of boats are obsolete, & then seeing your boat, made me wonder if it may be a possibility that this would be the same boat as my Dad's. I have pics of my Dad's Trojan that I can share with you. I don't have alot of information on it as far as serial #'s, etc., but would like a chance to compare similarities with you. it had 70hp merc, that he traded in on a
1961 or 1962 full gear shift 80 hp merc. have pictures. moved to st. louis, mo in 1962. in 1963 boat was sold to boat dealer here in st. louis,mo. been trying to find
this boat for almost 40 years. please call, doug cell 314-805-8018 or email fourallmycats@yaoo.com thanks, doug
