Thoughts for the day

Post by rossjo »

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.

You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.

You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.

You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.

You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.

You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence.

You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.

Our present administration that was elected, is doing the exact opposite of this!

I shutter to think of the damage they will do, before they are removed!

It takes character and courage to vote for the candidate who is going to do the best thing for the country in the long run, which may not be the best thing financially for the voter. We have become a nation of self centered, greedy, lazy lard butts who think the government owes us free health insurance, free food, a home and an auto. The current administration knows this all too well. Does anyone really think the bailout was about saving the banks, or that obama-care is about looking out for people? You CAN get elected by fooling voters into thinking you are bringing 'hope & change' to a rotten, corrupt political system, and you CAN get re-elected, by appealing to a nations greed. I agree with all you say RJ, but I'm afraid we are too far gone to turn around. Social Security is a communist ponzi scheme, but how many would vote to do away with it?

We have to keep up the good fight. I can't imagine giving up and moving somewhere else without fighting to maintain what others have given their lives for.

All politicians are crooks - they use politics to get us to take sides with whomever is the least offensive. Our Congress is an embarrassment - operating in direct conflict to our constitution excluding themselves from the very laws they pass while giving themselves raises and better health insurance (for life). BP, the Texans and all of the oil people are simply looking out for their own money, contriving oil shortages and the likes to justify prices, wars and continued spending on oil and defense. We elect a president who was unwilling to even vote in his prior Senate position, and expect him to make decisions. It goes on and on ...

In the end - no one has a plan which will help the US recover quickly from our situation. We've left behind engineering, manufacturing, building, growing & innovating to become a service society, and our services are needed less and less. We evolved into the world's banking and financial giant - and then blow that building a derivative based economy giving 100% loan-to-value home loans to people who don't qualify for loans to begin with. We keep growing our debt and printing more money (at least the dollar's value is way up against the Euro, bringing our stock market down however).

rant over

I just hope it doesn't get worse ... before we can make it better.
