some advice,
I ran into a little mud today while out and anchored at low tide , nothing major, didnt hear anything, but now I have a slight vibe coming from my starboard drive line, while underway, more pronouced at lower speeds
what are my chances of it being the prop??
also if its the prop shaft, has anyone had theres straightened

most likely its just the prop , but shafts can be straightened I know people that have had this done with good luck dont feel bad I found a small hole in one inter cooler so I inspected the other and founds a crack
also $$$$$$

and I lost the boat for this week end

but the parts will be here tuesday and I am taking off wendsday to but it together so I will be boating next weekeng

Paul's right, it's probably the prop. It doesn't take much to through the balance off.
I've had shafts straitened. It's not cheap, but less then the price of a new one.

what happens, do the blades get bent? I mean I dont think I did anything that harsh to bend the shafts I would like to thnk that if I bent a prop shaft, it would shake at any speed, I mean I can feel it , but it does shake the boat at lower speeds, I plan on hauling this week to do the inspection, if anyone knows what size hardware is holding on the props etc, and good tips on removal I would appreciate it, as I plan on swapping out the props at that time and want to have all tools needed to make the job easier

Not that its ever happened to me (well maybe once or .....) A blade can get knocked a liltle or of wack. not to expesive to fix in most cases .

you'll need a 14" adjustable wrench, a dead blow hammer and a good prop puller.

ok, sounds straight foward, beside the prop puller which Im sure my marina may have , or I have a couple of generic, ones, just trying to plan it out thanks

Chances are, the prop is dinged and the shaft is not bent. You can hire a diver and change the prop in the water. It should be cheaper then having the boat hauled. The job can be done in about an hour and you can give the boat a test run to see if the vibration goes away. If it persists you will know the shaft is bent, but from what you told us, I doubt that that is the case.

Not likely. The bearing is in the strut with a tight fit. They go bad through wear and wouldn't loosen from what was described. If he was running and hit bottom, that would be a different story. In that case he might be looking at replacing prop, shaft, strut, bearing, and maybe the rudder. Even in something like mud, the torque of the engine can twist everything.

all good advice, thanks I thought about the diver thing, but is that realistic ,? what are the chances of my finding a diver that would know how to do that type of job? does anyone know anybody in my area??would love to hear from you if you do,, otherwise Id probably haul and do it myself

All kidding aside. Changing a prop is not big of a deal. If there are any divers in your area that clean bottoms, they probably can change a prop,especially if you have the tools. If there are any dive shops in your area, call them and ask if they can recomend anyone. Ask around the marina, other boaters may know someone. Even the boatyard may know someone, but they might not want to loose a job.

found the problem,
it appears that I snagged someones line, it is wrapped around my starboard prop
guess Ill haul it out and clear it out from around the prop, that will do it[

It would be cheaper to hire a diver , call alocal dive shop if you don't know one .
