Thru-hull shaft leak 1971 F26

Post by Agitator »

I have a small leak where the shaft goes thru the hull. I've tightened the fitting as much as I can with my hand. Is there a special tool used to tighten it? How else do you stop the leak? It's not much, maybe 1 drop every 3 seconds. Is there a proper name for that fitting?

Check out this link for an excellent set of instruction and really sharp pictures of how to repack the stuffing box
