New WIFI hotspot for You

Post by sehord »

Check this out... this is new out by Virgin mobile, $40 a month, NO CONTRACTS, cancel anytime, but it allows up to 5 people within 30' of you to pick up a wifi signal for laptops or other devices.... and it fits into your shirt pocket. Pretty cool.... be the hit of your marina or raft in. Also in your car home or where ever....

Looks neat.

I use my Blackberry tethered to my laptop while on the boat and it works great. Can't provide WiFi for anyone else but works good for one laptop.

No, i just saw it come out and havent used it. I am about to get some type of wireless and have been checking around and that one just came out. I do home and builing inspection and there are usually several buyers/sellers/ etc around me so the hotspot sounded cool, and if we travel the kids can be on their laptops in the car or plane too.... My dad just got a ipad and he says he can be in his bed in his house and he downloaded a $2 app that shows him in his bedroom part of the house on a sattelight map..... must use cellphone triangulation to locate his postition, as a GPS would not pick up inside, but he says its $15 a month for it all.... have to look into that too....

Crackberry.com.
That's the BlackBerry forum. You should be able to do a search there for tethering a bb to a laptop.

thats the cool part about this... it is a wifi hot spot, so you can use your laptop, unlimited use, 3g speeds, no contracts, but up to 5 people can connect at the same time, it fits into your shirt pocket if you like and it only $40 a month... sounds good... but I have not tried it yet....

Go to http://www.tether.com. It is a great app and works every time - no hitches. I got rid of my home service it is so good. Use it on the desktop at home.

Download speeds up to 2,400 kbps and you gave up home service :?:
Not a chance I would give up my home service of 21,422 kbps for an 88% drop http://www.speedtest.net/result/941063227.png

Everyone has different needs. Good thing we have choices. For us, it meets our needs just fine and eliminates another expense. Win-win.
