Hi Dieseldust,

First ,find a good surveyor that is familiar with old wood boats (some aren't) and get a good survey. I would also have the mechanicals surveyed, some surveyors do both and some don't. As for fuel consumption, I would expect around 6-8 gph comsumption (per engine) at a cruise speed of about 16-19 knots......consumption starts climbing rapidly as you go over 3500rpm..........good luck!!

DD-I have a 1971 31' Trojan woodie sedan. Good solid boat. I had the Chrysler 318's that probably put out a little less power that thos but similar. I think will current gas prices it would be worth your while to install a flow meter in not there already. With the flow meter and and GPS and good use of trim tabs you can find your most efficient cruise speeds. Also my suggestion would be to make sure there is a yard around you that can and will work on a wood boat.
