Where did the water go?

Post by Allen Sr »

When the marina hauled my boat out, pressure washed it, then blocked it up for the winter my bilges were about empty. They shouldn't have been as empty as they were due to two leaks that I had. The water level was so low there's no way the bilge pumps pumped it out. So 'Where did the water go?'. It's been driving me crazy trying to figure it out. Going to the boat tomorrow morning to try to investigate more. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. :?: :?:

The marina tilted the boat when in the sling to drain the bildge?? The guys at my marina do this on all the haul outs. Just a guess.

Do you have plug in aft end they might have removed to drain the water?

Water might have migrated FWD since the boat is level now.

I have always found marinas to tilt the boats so water would run out the drain plug. My current boat doesn't have a plug so I use a portable pump to get any residual water out at the end of the season.

My guess is when your boat was hauled out, it was tilted and the auto bilge pump forward or aft pumped it out for you. :D

The bilge drain plugs I removed myself after the boat was blocked, one forward and one aft. Tilting in the slings sounds like that is what they did. I will find out today when I go over. I have seen some of the boats tilted in the slings but not all of them.

Well just got back from the marina and it was like people said they tilted the boat to empty the bilges when picking it up. The owner laughed and said to move my center PORT discharge hose to starboard so he don't get a bath at 9:00 in the morning!!   I told him his crusty old a*# needed it anyway!! Thanks for all the input. :) :) :)
