Haven't seen her yet. The owner has owned her for 17 years and has gotten cought up in the "work web" and neglected her a bit. According to him she runs great and has a ton of upgrades but needs some TLC.

Thanks for your offer! PM sent farfrompuken.....

Like I said be careful on the engines and remember it is a wood boat

from the ad

"1974 53' MOTOR YACHT. FIBERGLASS OVER WOOD FACTORY BUILT. THIS IS A CUSTOM BUILT NOT FACTORY."

Factory ?? or not Factory ?? LOL

Looks to me like factory hull and perhaps some elements of interior (though not enough shots to tell), but 'custom' elements in the superstructure. Was it a customization, or was it a rebuild after some major disaster? I just get the heebie-jeebies when stuff is being sold only through sites like Craigslist and eBay, and not going through any brokers or normal 'marine' focused sites. Just kinda feels like "Hey mister -- wanna buy a Rolex? For you, only twenty bucks!"

Buyer beware... Get a survey and mechanical inspection, or the $40K for the boat may turn out to be cheap compared to what it costs you to make it safe and usable.

NO GIN wrote:Any idea what kind of fuel burn on the twin 370 Cummins on this vessel?

Thanks again!!

22 gal per hour per engine at WOT (44 gph )

Run fairly easy ( 7 knots) you maybe in the 1 mile per gal range run any harder and it drops fast to .4 mpg ??

Fuel burn isn't as bad as I thought it would be for a 44,000 lb boat!

The ad is misleading guys. I confirmed with the owner and Coast Guard Documentation that it is a full fiberglass hull. What he meant was that it was a wood core which us boaters know is the way fiberglass boats are made. I guess he had some questions about that in the past and attempted to clarify it in the ad. Kind of backfired I guess.

Hey Prowlersfish, what marina are you at? I spoke with someone at the Salt Ponds Marina the other day. I think that's where I am going to keep her this year.

Wrong it is a wood boat that was glassed over . no cored boat trojan did not make a cored hull untill the 1980s and then only 1 model . with the glass over the wood hull it could be documented as glass

And thats not the way glass boats are made . sorry .

their are glass hulls , and cored hulls and cold molded hulls and there are glass over wood hulls . all diffrent

Small world! Did you hear they are closing the Army Base there and possibly making it into a private Marina? I am going to drive down in a couple weeks and check out all the Marinas. I am looking for a Family friendly Marina so my wife and I can relax on the boat while the kids, 9 and 6, can play and have fun. I really like that Salt Ponds has direct access to the nice sandy beach!
