Found this laying in the bildge near the stern. I know its part of the autohelm and I know its not the Fluxgate is it an alarm should the peg be pointing forward?[img][IMG]http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l55 ... 878385.jpg[/img][/img]

Was it in the stern at the transom? Does the top of it spin? looks like it may not all be there but it's probably the rudder refference sensor. Hooks up to the steering arm so the autopilot knows the position of the rudder.
She was a 1969 36 ft wooden beauty with big blue 440s that we'll miss forever.

dont think it turns unless it frozen. it was tucked in corner between the port sringer and the transom.

Good find CM. The top should turn. There is usually an attachment devise of some sort to attach the lever to the rudder arm or steering rod etc.
