Hired a boat detailer...worth the money!

Post by zedtwentyate »

I'm out of town for work this week and really wish I was able to be at the marina. I hired a local woman who travels back and forth between florida and Syracuse detailing boats. It seemed a little pricey at first, but after thinking about the years of neglect that she wen't through, I knew a she deserved a spa day.

Here's a few before an after. I will say that i learned my lesson about taking the tarp off too early when she is in the barn. Holy poop. I'm still waiting for a few more after pictures...can't wait to see this old girl in the water this week!

Looking good. Care to share what it costs? The She must be doing very well for herself detailing....

It took me 3 entire days of wet sanding, compounding, and finally acrylic sealant just to get the oxidized hull to look acceptable.

I solicited quotes to do the topsides and both companies turned down the job. Me thinks it's because they would rather work on the super yacts that are already nice and shinny... Just slap on a quick coat of wax and be done in a few hours.

I will say that I did some calculations and my F-32 has 70% more surface area on the hull than my 28.

Just had my F32 compounded and waxed. The hull was $576.00. It was another $300.00 and some, for the topside.
My hull wasn't that bad as it was done 2 years ago. The topside had never been done. At least not the last 12 years or so that we've had her.

Thats not terrible. I know a guy that paid 1500 for his 32 Chris Craft. It needed considerable compounding.

I havent received the final bill yet, but the original quote was $729...it was only supposed to take one day, but it too two. I should have more info when i am back in town and I will share the details.

I couldn't agree more. Boat looks awesome.
I needed a less expensive hobby, so I bought a boat!
