Srokag44, not sure about the gen , will have to look closer.
Todd, I used two coats of west system with the the 207 clear hardener to seal and fill in the grain. Rinsed with water to remove the blush and sanded between coats, then used epifanies gloss varnish. I'm really happy how the wood trim on the counter turned out. Think I may need another coat or two on the wall but its good enough for now.

Reason I asked is because I'm having a terrible time with the coolant system right now. It is impossible to vent the air out when filling it. This causes a "vapor lock" and the system will overheat. Kohler apparently realized the problem after the early models were produced and modified the design to include a vent plug in the top of the expansion tank opposite the fill cap. If you don't have it, I would suggest adding it while it is out of the boat. I don't have space to get a drill and tap to the location with my generator installed. It is simply a 1/8 npt plug. Looks like this: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-hAix ... 152026.jpg

I apologize, I havent had much time to work on the boat recently thus nothing to post. just saw your post. My gen does not have a plug there but i never had a problem with vapor lock. does kohler have any info on the issue that would show where to drill?

Believe I finally figured out my batteries and wiring. I ordered 50ft of 1ga battery cable. im upgrading the two factory 6ga house dc power leads with 1ga and the main 2ga dc negative ground lead to 1/0ga which will put me below a 3% voltage drop. decided to use blue sea "terminal feed through connectors" to allow me to put battery switches and ACR's below the aft cabin seat. will hopefully get a chance to finish doing the wiring in a week or two. We have a new addition to our family that has taken up alot of my spare time!!! Her name is Bay-lee. I insisted on a nautical name (my last lab was Captain) but my daughter wouldnt budge from Bailey so we both compromised! LOL

My plan for putting everything beneath the aft cabin seat didnt work out. The Bulkhead was 1 inch thick but the pass through fittings were only good for 3/4 inch. I ended up putting the two switches for the engines on the bulkhead in the engine room. I decided to put the house battery switch in the aft cabin locker. I used 1 awg cable for all the battery runs. with this setup I can leave all the switches on position 1. each engine will have its own starting battery and a main house bank. all three banks are isolated from each other. under engine power the ACRs will combine all three batteries to be charged by the two alternators. when hooked up to shore power the ACRs will isolate each battery bank so that the charger can charge each battery independently, (in order to accomplish this I returned the Mastervolt charger and ordered a blue sea p12 charger which has the ability to communicate with the ACRs to isolate the batteries during charging).
I ran new 4 gauge cables for the battery charger.
I upgraded the original 2 gauge main ground cable to a 1/0 ground and upgraded the two positive DC panel leads from 6 ga to 4 ga and shortened the run as well. this will give me less than a 3% drop in voltage at the main panel. I also upgraded the ground from the dc galley panel to the main ground bus from 6ga to 4ga.
I hated the way trojan had 4 and 5 grounds crimped in one terminal with open ends. I replaced the original ground bus bar with a blue sea systems maxi Bus . I put individual terminal ends on every single ground wire in the main distribution panel and did the same for the dc panel in the galley. I had to add a second bus to accommodate all of the wires. you can see these in the bottom right of the panel pic.

Started varnishing again. Two coats of west system and two coats of varnish so far on the dinett, some trim and the rail around the counter that i put a sapelle trim to cover the screw holes. got tired of looking at the generator so I build a boom for my forklift out of two 15 lengths of unistrut, my old aluminum engine beds , a pallet, a 5 ton ratchet strap and a little hillbilly engineering . managed to lift and install it myself today!
started to install the mufflers only to realize i neglected to make cut-outs in the stringers to clear the mufflers! I believe there is a slight chance if I lengthen the rubber exhaust hose that connects to the hull i may be able to get it to work. if not ill be cutting the stringers and re glassing!

LOOKING GOOD !

The addition of a GEN SEP will quiet that genny down considerably, and is not (relatively) expensive.

It will separate the exhaust from the water .

I added one when I upgraded to the diesel genny which is actually quieter than the 6.5 kW Onan it replaced

You've done an amazing job! You've helped me stay motivated over the last 19 months while I've been working on mine. Keep up the great work!
