Hello Everyone,
I would like to add a windlass to my 10.8M International. Obviously, I would like to utilize the hole that is already in the deck for the anchor chain. Can anyone recommend a windlass brand and model number? If you have pictures showing how yours is mounted it would also be appreciated.
Thank you,
Ron

Re: 10.8M Windlass Suggestions
I sent my measurements to TOM RING at Good Windlass
we put together a great setup
beat the hell out of my old Lewmar freefall
We also moved the windlass aft a bit so the rode would dump into a deeper part of the anchor locker.
We modified the anchor locker door to accomplish this .
I have posted photos here on the Forum previously, suggest you do a search.
My new to me Sea Ray 450DA has a Lofrans windlass. Should it fail, I'll be calling Tom Ring for a GOOD windlass.
BEST !

Re: 10.8M Windlass Suggestions
Hi Ron,
I own a 1994 Trojan 370 Express, one of those orphan Carver-assembled Trojan's after Carver bought the remains of the Trojan bankruptcy.
My boat has a Maxwell VWC windlass that works well. I'm replying essentially because of the similarity in our hull shapes.
I dealt with the American offices of Maxwell recently in order to obtain a replacement Clutch Nut Lever and experienced excellent communication and service. (When I originally bought the boat I had said, "What the hell's this thing old thing." .... and heaved the original lever into the garbage.)
Good luck with your purchase whatever you choose.
Ron, a lot of people have moved over to the Facebook Trojan website. I do go there but I really miss the regulars here. Times change I guess.
El Sea, I was in Fort Myers this past November and made a point of dropping down to MarineMax to see if your boat was still there. It was great to see it again and to see how far ahead Trojan was at the time. Hope all is well. I'm back now in Canada in a deep freeze. Spring can't come soon enough.
RWS......... The profile of that fabulous SeaRay 450DA you bought always reminds me of those original Trojan 13 meter hardtops ...... one I examined closely and seriously considered buying back in 2011. I believe when sold it was moved to Florida.
Cheers, Mates

Re: 10.8M Windlass Suggestions
THANKS for the compliments !
One of the advantages of the GOOD windlass is there is NO NEED to go forward and clip off/on the safety lanyard.
It's a positive locking mechanism.
I LOVE that feature.
