Summer Cruise

Great summer. First, our 73 F36 was featured in the regional river planner! This is an annual book that covers boating on the upper Mississippi. Most of the photos highlight new boats / driven by advertisers but a local photographer snapped our picture last fall and it was published as the Sept 2009 calendar shot. Couldn't buy better publicity for our brand of boats here in in the mid-west. Thats me at the helm, my brother in law to migh right and my wife on the bow deck reading a book.

Next, we took a trip. Just got back from a 320 mi route. We left on July 18th at Red Wing MN on the Mississippi. We passed through 6 sets of locks on the upper Mississippi and turned around in the middle of pool 7 near Lansing IA. We returned to Red Wing on July 24th.

It was a lazy cruise. We spent most of the time running 7-10 mph. We used about 240 gallons of fuel. Fuel prices ranged from 2.87/gal to 3.20/gal.

We anchored out the entire trip. Most of the time on the Mississippi you can pull a few hundred yards off the navigation channel on a wide turn and drop anchor. A great time to drop a line in the water. We caught some catfish, walleye, and even some sunfish.

Weather was perfect. 75-82 during the day and 62-70 at night.

That one week each summer makes the winter months bearable. Just thought I'd share...

God Bless America

L&V,

Congrats on the feature Calendar shot (is that they shot they used?).

You have a beautiful boat (looks a lot like Tony's in Fort Myers.) and it looks like you had a great trip.

Rossjo, The first photo was the shot used in RiverPlanner. The rest are from the trip. It does look a lot like Tony's. I've seen three with painted navy blue hulls, Tony's, our's and one in Texas.

I couldn't help but notice in the Summer Cruise post, the picture of the Trojan pennant on the bow. Can these be bought or are they special made by the individual? I would sure like to have one of them on my boat!
