well, because my 'new' car won't start...AGAIN...and i'm sitting here in the sunroom waiting for a tow truck....AGAIN.

the story thus far:

after buying my torjan and finally understanding that i'd been bitten by the boating bug, i decided to spend my money on that aspect of my life, rather than nice cars, which had up until a couple of years ago, been my thing. so, i sell my sl500 and decide to use that the money for the car payment and insurance on the boat instead. i bought something i've always wanted...an old mercedes diesel...a 1985 300cd, to be exact, and i won't have a car payment and insurance will be a tad better. outcome...more money for boat stuff! yeah!

bought the car from a mercedes mechanic in atlanta who assured me there was nothing wrong with it. perfect for an every day driver, although it had 288+ thousand miles.

so, i buy it. then one day last week, the car just won't start. take it to a local shop that restores these things, and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. so i spend 500 beans to have a couple of leaking gaskets replaced, and get the car back yesterday.

get in it today...nothing. won't start. general concensus is a starter problem. but, as i have no mechanical skills whatsoever, i'm sitting here waiting for a tow truck to take it back to the shop and HOPEFULLY find out that it is indeed a starter and that i won't have to wait 20 years to have one shipped in if they don't have it. oh, and that it won't cost another 500 beans.

just thought i'd share and hopefully vent a little in the hopes of feeling a bit better afterward.

nope. still pissed.
