Morse Controls

Post by BMILLER »

While working under the flybridge instrument panel, I bumped the Morse shift levers on top. I noticed the mechanism under the panel flexed all over the place. Question, below the detent "fulcrum" there is a bracket that is somewhat L shaped right in the center of the mechanism. There is a hole there, is there supposed to be a bolt or screw tying the it together? The flybridge shifters have been a issue for the PO and he said it needed replaced. Is it just a missing bolt that causes all my issues with finding neutral, could it be as simple as a missing bolt.......I hope.

In a dual station application, unless you have two cables (one from each station) going to the tranny, the correct way to set up neutral detent is to disengage the upper detent completely. The upper station relies on the detent in the lower station to minimize doubling the effort at both stations going in and out of neutral.
