Engine Hoses

Post by jddens »

This is probably a dumb question but thought I'd ask anyway. My F30 has closed loop cooling system on the GM Vortec 350's. There are alot of 3/4" hoses running around and they have got hard and I want to replace them. I'm assuming I can just go to Napa and get heater hose of the appropriate size??? Or is there some type of special hose I should use??? ThanK!!!

Stick with Marine grade hoses. They are reinforced.
The last thing anyone wants, is to be underway and have a hose rupture or heck, even away from the boat at dock. And be sure to use marine grade SS hose clamps, doubled up if possible.

Maybe...a Napa but wouldn't bet on it.

Try Worst Marine or perhaps your local marina's ship store has what you need.

Jamestown Distributors is a great source of hoses and just about any other marine supplies. This is only 5 miles from where I live so I avoid shipping costs, but they also do business nationally and internationally.

Clamps

Post by rossjo »

Be sure to buy Type 316 Stainless Steel hose clamps as well. I have converted all of my critical clamps to T-Bolt clamps, instead of the worm gears, and double up on all of your clamps (if you have room).

The standard type 18-8 Stainless clamps will rust
