thoughts on floscans

thinking about installing 55000 floscans-----any tips out there good or bad on instals etc.---I don't trust the fuel gauges ,so I thought this could give me an accurate measure of what is going on with the 360's, fuel in fuel out---Mike

I had that model on my 454's.

it was deadly accurate to 3-5 gallons at a fill up.

I was always amazed by it's accuracy.

The floscan with the 454's helped me dial in efficiencies to go from .64 nmpg to .83 nmpg.

I recently installed the diesel version to go with the Yanmars, and will do the final calibration this weekend.

If you are going to USE your boat these make sense.

Also, I believe being able to dial in efficiencies, you will (we will certainly) be encouraged to use the boat even more.

Floscans in my boat helped me see that between 2700 (just on plane) to about 3200-3300 there was no real difference in fuel usage/miles. Great option to have on the boat!

I actually put a network in off my Garmin and bought their version of flow monitors. LOVE THEM...like the previous post, you can really see when the secondaries open up and save fuel. I agree, for me not much difference between the RPM's listed and I do use them to track fuel in the tanks. Just always have to reset my Garmin when I fill up so I know what is the approx left in the tanks at all times.

Yep, like the above posts, love them on my boat. Tracking fuel consumption and finding that sweet spot I can cruise at. Wish I had done it years ago...you can't go wrong with Floscans.

Thanks guys----- am I right in assuming you need two flow sensors,two pulse dampers and the read out gauge to be mounted on the bridge----- have to say the nmea 2000 stuff looks real interesting as I already have the garmin 720,just not sure I would get all of that stuff installed correctly---- Mike

if there are no return lines as on my 454's it was a very simple installation.

Two sensors.

Now the diesel with the return lines and pulsation dampeners, well THAT'S a horse of a different color........
