Replacement Amp Meter

Post by gitchisum »

Anyone know a part number or have a source for the amp meters used on late 80's panels. I have a dead one that needs replacing.

Thanks

You might want to check this one out: http://www.hoytmeter.com/products/digit ... ter-detail
It is a digital meter that will read out voltage, amps and frequency. Really lets you monitor a genset. It's been several years since I installed one. I don't remember having to modify the panel cutout to accommodate it.

Is it a amp meter or volt meter. Mine 1984 has voltmeters. There is a thread on this website where I think it was PPdog changed his out to digital volt plus ammeter. It referenced where to get them on ebay and I ordered some, of course from china and I never got them. got my money back though. I will try and find the thread

First time order did not work via ebay, above link shows how he did it.

Aw shucks Larry -- thanks for remembering me!

If I had it to do over again, I'd buy a meter with red (or maybe green) numbers . The blue numbers are hard to read at night. Just try to read a blue sign at night as you're driving down the highway. Other than being somewhat difficult to read, they have been fabulous. My boat is a big tree fort at the moment. I have one of those nifty adapters that lets me plug a 15A 120V extension cord into my boat. I use the ammeter to keep an eye on the load. I can run the microwave, floodlights, the coffee maker, etc. and make sure that I won't trip the breaker.
I needed a less expensive hobby, so I bought a boat!
