84 Onan 6.5k Generator won't shut off

OK, just about got my boat complete. One issue I need to resolve is being able turn generator off. Currently the switch by helm and on the generator will turn it on but not turn it off. Can someone point me in the right direction on what to look for when I head out there today. Maybe needs a new relay?

Went through this last summer.... Likely one of the 3 fuses on the front of the panel. Exact same unit. Can't remember which one. I accidentally kicked one while working on something else. Weirdest thing that it would start and then not be able to shut off!

It's an older automotive type glass fuse on the generator itself. I broke the fuse by accidentally kicking it. New fuse, problem solved!

I appreciate the manual and advice. I didn't get a chance this weekend to go to marina, but will check it out this week.

All the fuses were good. Now time to check the wiring.

There should be a stop relay in the unit. It may have failed. Also check all the connections at the switches, at the terminal blocks, at the fuse holders, and pins in the harness plug if applicable. Check the on/off switches too. It could be that the "off" side of both switches are not making contact. You can check that easily with a meter.

Well, had another issue pop up. Had to change fuel line.

Haven't gotten back to this yet. Had some other issues pop up that needed more attention. Will get back to it soon.

Never heard back what caused the no shutdown condition, but my 84 tri cab genny is now operational, whew. That said it will not shut off at the genny but will shut off at the remote over the galley. I suspect broken wire or bad switch. Will post when found.

Oh by the way the Onan 6.5 H carbie is a sxxxxofa bxxxx to get off. Seems they adapted a walbro downdraft carb and had to make a 1/2 inch adapter plate. The bolts are darn near impossible to get to , but with patience can be done. I wonder why they changed from side draft to this one.
