Re: Refinished head. Pics
Very cool. I am debating what I want to do with my head. Currently there is really nothing wrong with it except for its dated look. Nice job updating yours.

Re: Goodbye points!
At this point in time, if you have an older boat, its a good upgrade. I am not a fan of the upgrade kits in older engines simply because usually at this point, there is some wear and play in the older most likely original distributor. Sure you can eliminate the hassle of points kits by using an upgr...

Re: F-44 Convertibe Sedan - Curiosity
I'd say its a 43 or 46 Egg.
The curved glass windows on the rear of the superstructure and the cockpit entryway are a dead giveaway.
Its not a Trojan, and its not a 44.

Re: Has anyone ever heard of a hollow keel cracking from ice
The keel itself is rather robust. The false cap, not so much.
I still say the boat could be carefully blocked and hard urethane rubber of the proper type could be poured in there to the level of the cap.
Problem solved for any of our lifetimes.

Its hard to choose what to sell sometimes. I'd stay with whatever one suits your needs the best at this time and sell the other. Use the sale money to get the remaining one just the way you want it and get out on the water with it.

Re: Weather
Pouring rain here too Paul. This time last week we were in the deep freeze. Strange January so far. Lake is froze up in some of the bays, but is still open by me. Probbly will open up a bit more this week from the looks of things.

Thanks CP, I was thinking of going with VDO as well. I'll look into both of your suggestions. I like the looks of these. Classic style. Easy to read. VDO accuracy. http://www.vdo.com/generator/www/com/en/vdo/main/products_solutions/marine_solutions/marine_instruments/viewline/viewline_products_en.h...

Re: Tachometers
I got a rebuilt or used one in my lower. I am not sure who or when it was put in, but I do know its not original. It matches, so its probably from some similar Trojan helm. I know from doing cars that there are good rebuilders out there. http://www.markclawson.com/overview.html If I was going to rep...

Re: Mast Light
I must be the only guy to use my lower during the day and doesn't have an issue with the masthead at night up top. I hate to think how that might change when I get old. Like you guys. I recently had one of those electric chair lifts to get to the bridge so I feel a need to use it---lol Care...
