Looks like you have a paragon Gear box.

When you unbolt the drive shaft and the bolts from the trany (and the water lines) the gearbox will slide off. It is very heavy and hard to handle especially in the position you will be in. But no oil will run out - maybe a tad where the shaft goes. There's a drive shaft from the tran to the gearbox...

You said for the money she was in good shape.. Mind if I ask what you gave for her and was the trailer included? You can Email me at Billy.Towe@GE.Com for a private message if you rather. I have one identical to it. Newly rebuilt engine, tranny, gear box and paint job. My interior is not nearly as n...

Fuel flow question

IN my Trojan F26 with a single 318 I have two fuel tanks. The starboard fuel line is 30" long and goes from the tank to a brass 'T' at the separator. The port fuel line is 94" long and runs from the tank to the same 'T'fitting. The shutoff valves are on the tanks. Using a mechanical fuel p...

Thanks

By your post I assume you have twin 318's. Is one counter rotating? I think it should be. Just a heads up...

Pilgrim, I repowered my 1971 F26. My first thought was to remove the hardtop so I could easily pull the motor and tranny. On mine, the screws used to hold the hard top in place were aluminum and they stripped out too easily. I ended up borrowing a forklift and tying my chain hoist on to the forklift...

Guys, Just thought I'd thank all of you. I did not know there was a science to anchoring. I really thought you just threw it overboard and hoped your foot wasn't inside the coil of rope! I learned something from you guys. Thanks. OK, I admit. Rarely did I have a coil of rope. It was like a wad of ro...

Aaron,
I am in Alabama but make it to Baltimore/Washington 2-3 times a year.
I was in DC last week, caught the Amtrack up to Baltimore, had dinner at the Inner Harbor. First time I've been to the Harbor - it was really nice. Next time I go, I'll look you up.

Bill, The pick up tube on the starboard tank of my F26 stopped up. Like you, I have no anti-siphon valve and worse, no access to any of the tubing, vents or sending units on either tank. With nothing to loose, I took a portable air tank and blew through the fuel line back into the tank. I could tell...

"The port sensor was changed years ago and ever since then the readings were like that .." If that is true, there is where I'd start. Sounds like the wrong sending unit.

Well, that's what I thought about cast. The whole assembly needs to be heated to a certain temp and the cooling process was critical... At least that's what I remember from a year of welding school.. 35 years ago. Its just a crack in the water jacket. There's not a whole lot of pressure. I may try t...

Thanks guys... I didn't think you could weld cast but I never really checked on it. I've got to pull it anyway to replace a seal so I'll just carry it to welding shop and have it fixed. Shows what I know, huh!!

V-Drive and seats

Guys, MY 1971 F26 has a 318 Chrysler that turns a Paragon PV31R transmission and gear case. The water jacket in the gear case leaks. Since its cast iron I can't have it welded but I have used JB Weld. That stopped it for a while but now the leak is back. I can fix it again but would like to buy anot...

I keep mine on a trailer and use it most every weekend. I only have about 3 miles to travel to the ramp and since most of it is through town, I never get over 40mph. Watch the rudder!! I added an extra 2x6 to the runners to get it off the ground more. I also added trailer guides to the trailer to ce...

I rebuilt the AFB on my 318 as well. I carried the carb number to my local parts house and had them order a kit. I bought a gallon of carb clean and soaked everything overnight - clean my work bench so that you cold eat off of it and slowly, carefully cleaned and reassembled the carb. It wasn't too ...
