89 mid cabin radar arch ground wire

Post by mrrudely »

I have a break in the ground wire for the lights in the radar arch
I don't see anything on the wiring diagram that I have
Not sure but it looks like it goes into the window frame but I have no clue where it goes after that
I prefer to find the break before resorting to bypassing
Any ideas?
thx

i don't remember.....

but

many years ago I was having issues with the windshield wiper ground, so I ran a very heavy wire from the bonding system to the windshield frame as well as directly to each individual wiper motor

To trace down your issue, if you remove the decorative panels under the radar arch you will find all the factory wiring runs down the starboard side.

BEST !

I had a similar issue @ the arch and with the wipers. On the wipers, I decided to run a dedicated ground wire to the wiper(s) and did away with the windshield ground altogether. I also ran a dedicated ground wire up to the arch and added a terminal block. And I also repurposed one of the speaker wires (I did away with those) for power and did the same thing with a terminal block. Now for anything on the arch related, I have dedicated +/- with short connections.

I can tell you that fishing wires through the frame (Std side as RWS said) is not easy. If you remove the plastic trim on the Stb side, you'll see all the wires down near the corner.
