Considering a 1978 F30 with a single-engine.

Are hulls of boats of this vintage solid glass or glass over wood?

I have a ‘77 F26 with single Chrysler 318, and the hull is solid FG and the deck is FG over balsa core. I’ve repaired a few soft spots over the years on the deck (mostly in bow area where the original anchor chocks were located (and not caulked under the mounts.....) that hull is bullet proof, however. Get a survey done by a competent surveyor. Back then they laid up the FG mat by hand and really laid it on thick. That hull is bullet proof.

The F30 is a solid glass hull . Stringers are wood . Decks do have glass with balsa core . Most F30s are twin engine . A few were single , make sure its a F30 . Hull ID # or post some photos or a link if you like

Trojan lists the draft as 25" . Likely repowered . The 7. 4 Crusader is a good engine

Thank you. I would think that the published figures would be for the twins since there were so many of them and that the single would be more since the shaft is coming out at the center line and I would expect it would be swinging a larger prop.

My issue is my property is on a small bayou. I have to go out and do some soundings but I think I may be limited to 36" a significant amount of time so vessel draft is important.

Did some research . Not much difference in the draft of the twins vs. the single . Why ? First there is very little dead rise at the back , not flat but close . Prop size is the same 14" as it is also 1 to 1 gear . A single big block weighs less the 2 small blocks so the hull would sit a little higher , so it all balance out .

However since its likely been repower , make sure that the gear is still a 1 to 1 . If it was changed to a reduction gear and a larger prop fitted draft would increase . Every 2" of prop would add 1" of draft . Hope this helps
