One Less Trojan
I regret to inform everyone that The Dog House is no more. A few weeks ago The Dog House was damaged in a severe thunderstorm while tied to the dock. The insurance company declared the boat a total loss. The boat had a good 48 year run, but I guess nothing lasts forever.
I want to thank everyone here for all of their help, advice, and friendship. The Dog House never would have made it this far without the support of all of the people on this forum. I'm currently looking for another boat, but it will most likely not be a Trojan. My wife wants something a bit newer. I'll still be checking in from time to time and contributing my knowledge when I can. Best wishes to everyone who keep these old girls going.

Sorry to hear... It's always sad to have something of such sentimental value disappear, especially when it's unforeseen. Good Luck with insurance and a newer boat!

Sorry to hear about that. Due to the the age and book value of our boats its easy to be totaled even if the damage is not that bad . Have you thought about buying it Back ?

Nooo! Really sorry to hear about this. There's not enough of us 26er's on here as it is and it's a shame to lose one with such knowledge as yourself. What happened btw??? If you could message me your email or post it here that'd be great just in case I need to run some questions by you in the future. 48 years, wow. I wish you all the best!

Re: One Less Trojan
During the thunderstorm a tree (not a branch but a whole tree) was washed into the river. The tree then became lodged under our dock and when the tide fell The Dog House came down onto the tree. The tree pushed the swim platform up and through the transom. It created a pretty big hole in the transom and also twisted the back of the boat. The top part of the back of the boat is no longer square. It's not really repairable so buying it back was not a viable option.prowlersfish wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 10:39 pm

Fortunately the hole was above the waterline so the boat didn't sink. I was also able to drive it from the dock to the ramp to put it on the trailer. There was a lot of creaking and the steering was a little stiff, but she made it. I kind of knew it would be the last trip the boat took. Very sad. Mother Nature can exert amazing power at times.

Dog House, this is a sad story. Too bad. Hopefully you'll be back with replacement ride sometime soon.

So very sorry to hear your news.
But they say...
When one door closes, another opens up
Good example of exactly why most of us with older boats should CYA and have insurance with AN AGREED TO VALUE
Perhaps you'll consider an International?
