Headliner

Post by RedBelly »

I haven't even got the engine back into my F25 and I'm already looking forward to interior project this winter. New cushions, check. Rebed the forward looking portlights, check. Refinish interior brightwork, check. The old vinyl on bows headliner would look great... in my 69 Impala...

Has anyone removed it a replaced it with something a little more durable? How did you do it and how did it turn out? Having spent a week peeling glued on, mildewed vinyl from the inside of a sailboat hull, I'm not enthused about going that route.

I only had the vinyl on the v-berth bulkhead and peeled, scraped it off. Finally sanded down the rest and will either paint or stain, or maybe cover with a light-colored wood-like laminate. Not sure, but will decide next spring/summer. As for the actual headliner over the cabin ceiling, I'm contemplating taking it out and replacing with white laminate paneling cut and glued to fit with teak trim between the panels, all curved to conform the ceiling. Or.......not......

I redid my master stateroom last winter and used this for the headliner.the old liner was really showing it's age.the project turned out really nice.... this stuff is lined with a layer of foam and feels and looks very high quality, and yes,it was a real pain in the butt to install...:D
