I just bought a 1957 or 1958 Trojan sea queen. I bought it off Craigslist for 100 bucks, it is all complete with hardware and original steerinng wheel and mercury throttle control. The hull is in great shape and this boat was last in the water in 2003. My plan is to clean up the bottom and maybe give it a fresh coat of white paint, and restrain and caulk the deck.
I am not looking to restore this boat to show quality, I just want it to look respectable and somewhat original.
What would be the max and min horsepower outboard for this 15ft Trojan?
I would like info on whether the strips on top are mahogany or teak?
What is the best way to remove caulking and old varnish?
I will be putting pics up soon.

Johnson 40hp on sea queen
I have found a Johnson 40hp motor for this sea queen, it's a 1961 I believe and I'm wondering if any one has any input on whether this will be a big enough motor?
