I had never done this before but the installation was relatively easy.
I removed the plugs and gapped them to .055
I noted the position of the distributor with the cap on.
Before removing the distributor I noted the position of the rotor and where the rotor rotated to as it was removed.
I installed the new distributor starting the rotor position where the old one was when it came out so it would rotate to the right position.
It did not seat at first, oil pump slot did not line up, Doug suggested turning the engine over so the oil pump would mate. Worked perfectly.
Wired the new harness to the old positive leads and the tach (negative) lead.
Installed the plugs and wires.
Base timing was off at first so I adjusted it with a timing light.
There must be info on the preset advance curve but for some reason Doug was unable to supply me with it.
Doug is a proponent of power timing. I might try it.
Runs perfectly but I have not done a sea trial yet.
