On my F-36 I have the same setup. Where the tie bar attaches to the rudder arm there is a ball and socket. If that is where the play is you can tighten the ball and socket by removing the cotter pin at the end and tighten the big set screw to reduce play. Might want to loosen it and remove it so you can pack some grease in the socket before you make the adjustment. Dont forget to reinstall cotter pin. Hope this helps.

So, the fittings at the end of this 6' bar are loose?

Or are the bearings on the Rudder Shafts just very loose?

Or, as David points out, the ball and socket is loose and needs tightening?

Thanks glad to be here, There is not alot of Tojan owners here in the Northwest. I have had my F-32 for about 7 years when I bought it it was in a very neglected state of condition and have been restoring it ever since. Most cannot believe she's 78 vintage. If I ever figure out how to post pictures I will do so. By the way I think I have the rudder issue figured out it seem the previous owner for some reason cut the ball joints off of the tiller arms and put through bolts in its place, hince my next project.

Hello Larrys78. I was just up to Seattle on Sunday at the boat show, bought myself a new barbecue for the boat. Nice to see another Trojan owner here in the northwest, and you're right, there are not a lot of Trojans in our neck of the woods. I bought mine in Tacoma and it was also in terrible condition from neglect. Must be something in the water.

There are about 2 F-32's and 1 F-36 moored here at Edmonds. I think they all orginated from Anderson Marine an boat dealer that sold Trojans right next to the Ferry Dock at Edmonds in the 70s and 80s [/img]

There are 2 F-32's at the longview yacht club and I have seen 2 more in Portland Or.
