My aft cabin is quite interesting! The shower AND sink drain into the shower sump box and pumps out the back of the boat! Really cool idea!

mine too, mine too.... have you also noticed that you can not get to the connections? they vanish behind a bulkhead and floor. the aft head sink/tub discharge varies with year and design. the early tri cabins, the ones w/ out the tub and molded in sink had the sink discharge our the port side above the waterline, while the shower stall had a manual sump pump. the last of the model year, late 1986/1987 had the sink out the side above the waterline, while the shower drained into a sump box and discharged out the transom.
personally, what i would love to install is the whale IC sump system...

(okay, it's a british product, and the video is great to watch.... just pay attention for those that have difficulty understanding a british/irish accent)

My girl has a bellows type pump that has to be turned on manually, and I'm ok with that, however, eventually I'd like to install an air conditioner so at that time I'll have to switch over to a sump for collecting the condensate.

John, most of the sumps I've seen produced these days have a built in check valve right at the box in the discharge port. If the sump is only a few years old and water is coming back in then chances are the check valve has failed.

My airconditioner condensation runs into my shower sump. I have a small amount of gray water all summer.

The diaphragm pumps are a little noisy but as Paul pointed out they do keep things pumped dry.

I have thought about making a custom sump box to fit in the bilge just to make things quieter. In the F-26 hull there isn't' much distance between the shower drain and the bottom of the hull which is why it would require a custom sump box.

   Uh oh, I think the beginning of another winter project just happened.

Not much room on the F 36 Too . a custom box would be the only way .I wll stay with the diaphragm pump.

my 73 F32 drain into the bilge, i have a bow and stern bilge pumps, simple and effective and i suppose some shampoo and soap through once in awhile help keep the bilge clean
