Do you build an A frame over the boat to suspend the plastic/tarp so that snow will fall off and not collect? That is how we do it in Ontario, Canada when we store outside in the winter.

PK, I replaced my whole sanitation system last year. My toilet mounting was different than yours but I have the midcabin. Looks like yuo are planning on replacing all the hoses. If not then do so as those look original will likely be smelly.

I thnk the other broken hose may be a bilge pump.

I think thats too much work for me. I like to take my bicykle down to the harbour, and just start the engines, throw the rope, and set for the sunset. And the washing will be done when the season is over.

gardnersf Yes, I had planned a hose change. Actually I will change all the hoses, from the water inlet to the head outlet.

PK, I don't know how it is in Norway, but here in the states if you don't work on your own boat you had better have very deep pockets. The mechanics here get an average of $90.00 to $100.00 an hour and the cost of repairs can run up very quickly. At our marina they get from $300.00 to $1000.00 just to winterize a boat depending on what you have done.

that broken hose is the overboard drain for the sink in the head.

Given the age of the boat it might be a good idea to inspect or even simply REPLACE all of your bilge hoses and drain hoses.

You have drain hoses from the sinks, and the deck hatches.

Of vourse there's that window project as well...

Today I have delivered all my broken windows to a company here in Norway. Actually in a town quite near me. They asked for something around $1200,- for new windows, plus a little amount for straightening the frames. Tomorrow I will buy a new toilett, an electric one I think. And several meters of hoses. I have to hurry up, the summer is coming.....

sounds like a good deal on the windows.

As far as the toilet is concerned, you might be surprised at how little it would cost to restore that Vac U Flush system.

In my opinion the Vac U Flush is the most long term trouble free unit on the planet.

RWS: If I gonna repair the Vacu-Flush I will need the pump (for suction), and a complete new lower section of the bowl (with the lever and water distributor). Not sure if this is available in any shops.

I found my vacuflush parts at Northeast sanitation on Long Island, NY. The pump was around $600.00. Make sure it's the pump and not the sensor in the tank.

Is there anyone out here on the forum that knows anything about the Navistar 7,3 litre diesels from Ford? i.e. fuelconsumption, the power, and so on?

Tomorrow will be an quite nice day here on our side of the world. I will start the polishing work outside, have got yes from my "queen", she will help me out. At least with the washing. And I will try to remove all the old pipes and stuff in the engine room. I will put out some picks here tomorrow..... Gosh! I´m looking forward to put the boat into the water again!

When you look at the tank, there is a small end on it that looks like a beer can. The pressure sensor is in that cap. When you remove the cap, the sensor unit just unscrews.

The navstar is a good pick up truck engine . It how ever is a Poor choice for a boat engine . and hard to get parts for.

the best diesels for the 10 meter are the Yanmar & the Cummins.

The problem with the Cimmins is height overall. Significant modifications will be needed. The Volvo engine is just too tall to fit at all.

You will find the waste tank floaat switch sensor on the center "floor" of the engine room. That floor is actually the tank lid.

The sensor will be located forward, close to the fwd engine room bulkhead.

If you rebuild the toilet valve and seal and replace the vacuflush pump & sanitation hoses your waste system should perform as new.

RWS: Do you know what kind of modifications I´ll have to do if I use the Cummins? Ofcourse it depends on type of Cummins, but I presume it is the 300 Hp?

Is there any lid under the wooden floor, at the top of the holding tank? If not, would´nt the odor and smell come up and around in the boat?
