They move it to a different marina just down the harbour (as ours doesn't allow you to stay aboard), but yes they have a couple of agitators they set out themselves, plus the facility has bubbling of sorts (they run a compressor all winter and tap it into the fresh water lines on the dock... put out a hose with a bunch of holes in it, and presto - automatic bubbler... at least until the compressor quits).

They also shrink-wrap it, winterize their engines, put a small heater in the bilge to keep water tank from freezing, etc. 'Honey truck' shows up once through the winter for pump outs, so there are lots of cold nights and mornings trudging down the docks to the shore-based facilities.

I think there are about a dozen boats that winter there.

phil has been eyeing a mid 80's viking 44 double cabin. i love the design, and if i were not so totally enthralled with the tri cabin, this could have been 'the next one'. a captain i fly with out of dc lives on one with his wife at annapolis yacht club from april to december, then he transfers to charlotte and brings the boat to charlston and commutes out of there for the winter.
Nice boats , there are 2 Viking behind me a 45 sport fish and a 44 aft cabin . The sport fish is my kind of boat . The 44 is nice but not me . Tony likes it , he saw it at his marina

At the risk of being beat to death. I will say this although many here might disagree. I truly believe Carver had the hands full trying to live up to the Trojan name. It's my understanding that continuing the line was not an option. They set their sites high and did there best to do what some of you are saying

I don't know if you knew this or not, but the thing a makes most Trojan owners a little p-o'd with Carver, is that when they bought Trojan they chose to destroy all the molds for all the existing models. They guaranteed that no more would ever be produced, and that getting spare parts would be more of a challenge as well. My view is all they cared about was owning the name, and didn't really give a crap about the product. Today you can buy Carvers in several different names... a 'Trojan' is a Carver. A Marquis is also a Carver. They are just putting a different name on it so you don't know you are really buying a Carver product.
I find this thread very interesting, especially since we have an owner of a Carver-Trojan on this forum. I mean, there is no way he is telling the truth. He has a Carver. Surely that boat should be ready for the dump after 15 years. There is no way he can still be enjoying it. Someone call Pascoe!!!

Of course this is ALL my opinion, but I find blaming Carver for destroying the foundation of the International series by destroying the Delta Conic hulls a bit off base. Of course the only reason I have a different view of this is because of the International boat in the picture below. In 1991, Trojan came out with a completely different International, the 10.8 Meter Express. This boat was created by the same guys that made the Delta Conic International boats. This boat was a protype for a NEW International boat hull design. But it does go to show us that it was TROJAN making the change to this line.

Whether this hull would have been used on all the International boats is unknown, since there were only 17 of the 10.8 Meter Expresses made before Trojan was bought out. The reason for the change was both for money and performance. My understanding is that the Trojan Execs were getting sick of paying a royalty to Harry Schoell for the right to use the DC hull, plus they thought they could make a more efficient hull. I also find the idea that Trojan and Bertram never did anything together. Our own John Leed said that Trojan used the same hull engineer consultant that Bertram used to design the hull on this new International.

If you look at the Carver 370/390/400 Express, they are very similiar to the 10.8 Express. So, the question is, was it truly Carver destroying the Delta Conic design, or would it have been Trojan had they stayed in business????

I guess its more fun to have a common enemy. Damn Carver!!! :D

I recall hearing the same at the 2002 Trojan Rendezvous in Stuart, Florida where Harry Schoell was the guest speaker.

I spent the next morning riding with him and my girlfriend on his 22' Pulse Drive prototype boat with a single 350 cid chevy smallblock engine. Seeing the GPS hit 76 MPH while we made turns like we were on rails while blowing past go fast boats and big jetskis was something I'll never forget.

Trojan Would not have destroyed the molds ,the Delta Conic design may have stayed or been redone or replaced , your 10.8 may have been the first of many , But we will never know for sure

BTW Carver makes a dam good boat

Does Schoell design for any production line boating manufacturer?

He has for many builders the Delta Conic design was used by others along with the Duo Delta Conic hull

I read the Pascoe review before I bought my boat and it made me think long and hard. I even brought it with me when I had the boat surveyed and I was told to ignore it and we went through most of the things he picked on and we found little to no truth in what he had to say.
As for my boat being a Carver I see no signs of carver in my boat not even in the badging. This boat is unlike anything else I have seen it has held up far better then most boats and night and day better then the popular mass produced boats that so many love. There is very little I would change if I could on my boat and the things that where dated I replaced or updated as you can tell from the link to my pictures in my signature. I know that this is not a part of the old Trojan family but for those of you who haven't seen these boats up close I think you may be surprised how well they where built. Anyone here interested you are welcome to stop by and visit, when she is back in the water of coarse.

Hey. Let's thing about this cut up the mold thing. Carver would not cut them up if money was to be made. The DC hull why pay someone for it make a better mouse trap.its a shame Trojan went under but not UPDATING the F-'s killed them. They had the same thing that happen to GM keep selling the something and folks walk . But we all love our old boats and will fight to keep them up and running. So let's go use them. And yes Carver made me a Damn good boat

What kill Trojan was the luxury tax , updating the F boats ? , you don't want to change something with timeless lines

The tax was only one of the things. A lot of co. had to fight the same tax strong went on and the weak get eaten. And yes you can update a gmc of today is not the same as one of 1962 but both our gmc's
