So! Although winter is still in full swing here in Ottawa I took time to work on boat parts. When I last left off the seacock replacement, I had not reinstalled the strainers nor the scuppers. I wanted to clean them up good before putting them back in. So a month or so ago, I got me a cheap sandblasting cabinet on sale at Princess Auto. For our friends in the south, it's very similar to Harbour Freight. I assembled the thing and went to work. After about 1 hour total work, I got these shiny "new" parts. 8)

I have all (most) of the hoses ready to go in as well. Can't wait!

I wanted to buff the things up but my better half said it was too OCD... She must be talking to Barrie.

Looking good Christian,
What are those from? I only have one and it's attached to the Cruisair unit.
Should I have strainers elsewhere

You were talked out of polishing so easy :(

I only have an (inboard) strainer on my A/C. Engines used to rely on the scoop strainers shown in the photo. When I replaced my main engine seacocks, I put external strainers with screens instead of slots, that have a door that you can open to clean out the insides. Search "I have no idea how Trojan expected folks to clean the screw-in strainers if they needed it, short of a haul out, or a pressure washer from the inside. I read somewhere that holes are better than slots at keeping the grass out. When I bought the boat 3.5 years ago, I thought that I would put strainers on my main engine cooling. I haven't got around to it yet, but I have had no problems either. OK, so I spent last summer on the ground....

Hi Barrie,

I have strainers on both raw water inlets for the engine cooling. The other one is for the genset.
