Replacing the Deck

Has anyone tackled this job? My deck will need to be replaced. I'm thinking of just taking off the vinyl now to stop any more moisture getting trapped in. Then I assume it is a matter or putting on new ply.
I'm wondering already about whether to take the deck off and leave it off while I tackle problems with parts of the cabin.
I know I'll need to get the thing covered first though.
Any pointers or warnings. Any suggestions for tools or ply or a good method for ensuring a fit?

Interesting shots.. Willie's fore deck looks different to mine or am I misreading the photos. It seems his did not have an underneath layer of glass, nor was it balsa cored, or am I reading the photos incorrectly? Maybe it had been redone previously differently to the factory.
I had a glass shop do mine, the top glass/gel layer was cut away and then the balsa core dug out, replaced in epoxy and then glassed over and re-gelled. The side deck photo shows a combination of removed and replaced in one shot:

Michael, nice photos and what appears to be some nice workmanship.
Hate to ask what that repair cost...
I'm sure Willie will chime in on his photos and repair.

I thought Trojans had no wood there ? never really walk there maybe I should check my F26

I think, and I could well be wrong, that the year my Trojan was built, the Sea Raiders had the option of solid teak planked decks or teak plywood covered in a stamped vinyl. Mine is the ply with vinyl covering all over.

Well in the short time I had to work last night before it got too dark and cold I managed to get off most of the rub rail around the deck. I can see the (wet) edges of the plywood decking in some places and can get at the edges of the vinyl deck now.

Well found the source of our leak today. One previous owner apparently cut out a rotted part of the deck and the patch he made for it didn't fit very well. Basically any water that reached that point wound up in the cabin behind the panelling.
I've put up a couple of tarps that probably won't do much. I think I need to build a frame up around the boat.
The bad news is some of the stringers around the edge of the deck may be rotten too.
