'78 Hard top F-26 with lots of heavy options (inflatable hanging from davits, generator, etc). It's powered by a single 300hp 350 cid with 1:1 Velvet Drive inboard turning a Ø 1" Aquamet shaft. The propellor is a Michigan NiBrAl Ø 14"x 9P cupped. The boat will get up on plane fairly quickly while fully loaded for a weekend and tops out at 4500RPM @ WOT.
Cruises best at 3500 RPM @ 18-20 MPH.

Merc 233 powered '76 F-26 w/ the stock 14x10 wheel... WOT @ an indicated 3950 rpm. Cruises best @ 2600-2800 rpm, but will stay on plane @ 2400 rpm.
BTW, my Chrysler 318 powered '78 F-25 ran the same wheel.

75 F-26, 330hp fuel injected crusader with a 14 x 10" prop with a full cup. cruises 17 kts at 2900 rpm. 31kts at 5100 rpm.
Same prop on the old lm318 which reached 3900-4000 rpm WOT. According to the guys at Marine Tech, this is what my boat shipped with.

1978 F-26 flybridge , 228 Mercruiser with the stock 14x9 cupped. WOT @ 3900 with full fuel. Best cruise is at 3000 RPM. There is another F-26 at our marina with a 228 Merc turning a 13x11.

Hey Matt,
How does your boat handle at 31 knots? I've had mine up to 29-30 mph on GPS (tabs up) and it felt like it was on the edge of control. At 25 mph or less and it handles like a dream.

Running a stock Michigan Wheel 14x9 Nibral prop with stock Chrysler 318 (225 hp) single. Cruises sweetly at 3000 - 3200 rpm (15 - 18 mph depending load, conditions, etc). WOT 3900 - 4100 depending on load, etc with top end at 25 mph.

Hi Paul,
Pretty much the same. At 31 knots, she's pretty squirrley and that's putting it nicely!! At around 29-30 knots she seems to start to chine walk a bit, my tabs were all the way up. I only ran that speed briefly to make sure I reached the recommended rpm for the engine. I was in a river and it was flat calm. I would not recommend running it at that speed, under 25 she does handle great. The biggest difference I have noticed with the new engine is in a following sea. I now have enough power when needed to maintain steerage. So much more comfortable! I usually cruise between 16-17 knots, depending on conditions. (This is where she seems to run the best for me) Best part is I only burn 5-6 gph!
