Help needed: Sherwood Pump Impeller questions

I have a 1975 318 and this is the water pump- I want to replace the impeller, and keep a spare on hand.

I don't see a model number. Are there different versions of this pump out there- or is there one standard impeller.

Where could I get this impeller at a reasonable price?

Thanks.

They used different pump models. Up to 1975 and after 1975.

Could be impeller number, SH10615K, 1975 and later, (Pump number SH G-7)

Or, impeller SH9959, from 1968-1975. (Pump number SH D-60)

Good luck.

Take the Impeller out and then compare it to the images in a catalogue... that should bring you into what you need.
Basically you need to know the number of vanes, thickness of impeller, OD, and shaft bore... that should give you a fix on direct replacement.

boaterguy, You need to know the pump model #. It's not a D 60. That is a duel pocket impeller pump. Check with Beacon or your Owners Manual if you have one or search Sherwood pumps on line. Be careful not to buy too many pump parts individually. I found a bill from the previous owner of my boat who had spent over $1,000. on parts for a D 55 duel pocket pump plus labour to overhaul it. I priced a NEW pump at $450. !!

just for the record it could be a G-5 which has cast iron bearing housing and brass impeller housing. Mine has G-5s and G-5 is cast into it. Same parts for 5 and 7

As others have said, be mindful of the year and model of the pump. For my '79 with 360s (based on a 340, but don't know it they used the same water pump as on the earlier 318s), the pump was original Chrysler part number 3675763, and took impeller SH10615. Here are some pics

Today, you can get a replacement impeller from anyone who carries Sierra parts, number 18-3047 (for full kit, or 18-3061 if you don't care about the gaskets) http://www.go2marine.com/productcenters ... _V_422.pdf

Cost me about $36 a piece last fall from MarineManifold.com (a Canadian distributor). Of course, MarineParts.com (their US parent) sells the same thing for $27.43 today - 1/3 less, but that's only because the Canadian dollar is stronger than the US dollar. :? :?

Yes, yes, yes.... we get screwed over for pricing in the Great White North. That's also why our gas (automotive, street) is $5.85+ a gallon right now. Marina gas is 10-20% more.

Captain M

Is the picture of the standard rotation engine or Reverse rotation engine? I have rebuilt both engines and realized the pump can be upside down. I think the pic is the standard rotation on port side?

can get at least a couple of Sherwood models through NAPA parts (think they would be Sierra aftermarket parts). Unfortunately, will likely need the model number as even having the original in hand would probably not help at the counter -- unless there is a number on it somewhere that can be plugged into the conversion chart. Beacon first, but NAPA might be right around the corner for you.
