Hello, Looking for recomendations on packing for a 1985 F36. I removed old packing and placed the new 1/4 inch packing on the box but it does not appear to be sitting tight against the shaft is this normal or should there be bigger packing in here.....

What does the reset of the group use on the F 36 thanks
Brian

If you have 1 3/8 shafts it takes 5/16" packing if you have 1 1/4" or
1 1/2 shaft size it takes 1/4" packing .

I just replaced the packing in my shafts last week and I used 5/16 gortex on my 1 3/8 shafts.

Great choice on the Gore Packing...far better than traditional rope flax packing.

I agree with the king on sizing.

I have had great luck with the GFO packing in the past. It is well worth the additional cost.

barley snug , you don't what to over tighten , and do the real adjustment in the water .

What Paul said. I also like to take her out for a long spin. Chances are you'll have to adjust again after an initial run.
