fuel burn

I calculated the fuel burn rate for my break-in time. 2.2 gals per hour per engine. That is an average of all speeds, idle thru a short run at 3600 rpm. This also includes time to set dwell, timing and carbs. Very happy with that economy. The engines are 5.8L, 351W Fords 233hp with 2 bl carbs. Test were with full fuel, 126 total gals fuel, and 35 gals water.

Sounds great but .I think you will find the fuel burn a lot higher at speed . 20-25 gal plus a hour at cruse ( total for both engines ) . 4-5 gal per hour ( total both engines ) well below hull speed maybe .
Other F32 owners whats you fuel Burn ??

I have 6.3 hours and 6.1 on the meters and just topped the tanks with 14 and 13 gals of fuel. Agreed most of time was between 700 to 2200 rpms. Short one minute burst to 3600 rpms. Fresh rebuilds, did not want to abuse them during break-in period.
I will have to update my avatar, after her face lift, lipo and brest agumentation, she looks completly different. (kidding about agumentation).

I would have to dig in to my records if any more details are needed, but with Chrysler 360's, I get about 1.1 mpg on average overall. Don't have flow gauges, but in general I probably burn about 16gph (total, or 8gph per engine) at cruise (18 knots / 3000 rpm). I have almost 1700 hours on the engines. Original engines, original hours, no rebuilds.
At hull speed of 7-8 knots, it is closer to 1.5 mpg, or 5gph total (or 2.5gph per engine).

Those fuel burn rates are a pipe dream for me. I think I burn more fuel trying to start the engines.

Don't feel bad, I have a 32 and there is no way I could get those numbers unless I keep it under 1,000 rpm's. I think that's about 6.5 knots, just a bit to slow for me.

Welcome to the forum. I keep my boat at marina bay and I see you boat on the new river all the time. In fact I was moored next to your boat at lauderdale marine center about 6 months ago. Small world!

On a 10 Meter??? and I'm assuming its 1.7 mpg? I don't have a flowmeter, but just doing some bad math and filling it up a couple times and keeping track of my distance, I'm getting about .75 to .85 mpg. You are double that. Maybe I need a tune up.....

I am sure he means 1.7 gals to the mile and that comes out to .58 mpg
As far as a 10 meter with diesels getting 1.5 mpg at 24 knots , that sounds to good ,a F boat with diesels should burn less fuel and I don't get close to that . I think the numbers are off 24 knots at 2000 and 30 at 3000 seems off . maybe a typo ?

I figure to get an average of 1 mile to the gallon at anything higher than 8 knots and less than opening the secondaries on my 4barrels. This is just an average figured by cruising for the day and then filling the tanks on the way back in to the marina. F32 with 318 chrysler/ 225 hp/ 1100 hrs.
