my neighbor was working on his boat today and was installing a crankshaft mounted raw water pump on his engine .
interesting set up, I have never seen one of those before. It mounts to the front of the crank and can be used "on any engine" according to the directions.
Has anyone used one of these? It seemed like a quality set up, but the idea of it was a little strange. He said the previous one lasted over 8 years, and only had a slight leak is why he was changing it out.
Anybody running one of these?

looks much like the one in this link

Volvo and Crusader have been using something similar for years. Do a search hear, I'm pretty sure this was discussed not that long ago. Think there was a link to a different brand.

Later crusaders , marine power and some other use this set up .Volvo has always used it . I converted a mercruser I had to that style pump , it takes the pump a bracket for the pump ,bolts and hoses

do you think it would be reliable? The reason I ask is that when it comes time to replace my impellers , maybe I will go this route. The reason I like it, is that it eliminates a v belt , which I hate!! on boats. This pump, if reliable is very easy to service and eliminates a belt as well.
