Hello Gents,

I'd love to post some photos, but the Forum requirements are forcing me to resize.

Any advice as to the easiest method would be appreciated.

I am sure there are better ways but heres what works for me . I take the photo and email to myself . When I do so a box pops up to make to pictures smaller to keep the original size . I click on smaller send it put it in a file and then post it . sounds like a lot of work but it only takes a minute . Like i said I am sure there are better ways but this works for me

Oh, I'll help out anyone whose screen name means 'Ralph Wilson Stadium'. :D

Open it in Paint, from the toolbar at the top choose "Image" and select the "Resize" option. After resizing choose"File" from the toolbar, and select "Save As", save the resized image into a seperate folder you created for images you want to post.

Thus:

FWIW. If I have to resize something I shot in RAW on the DSLR I have to compress it to a .jpg befre I resize it. It still posts ok, but it won't blow up well after its been formatted that way. This image is a compressed version of a 23 Mb file shot on an 18 megapixel DSLR. (Canon 7D) I reduced it 90% and resaved it as a .jpg file so it would post. (Its actually reduced twice, once to make it a reasonable sized .jpg, and again to post here)

Who has a reasonably new version of MS Office on your machine? Create a new folder, and copy the images you want to upload to it. Open a single image, or select that folder and all images in it and open using Microsoft Office Picture Manager. Click on Edit Pictures / Compress Pictures (or Picture / Compress Pictures), and select 'Documents' for the target compression. This compresses things to 1024 x 768 resolution, and HOPEFULLY less than 250K file size. The forum upload limit is 250K per image, so as long as your file is smaller than that, it should upload.

If you select Documents and it tells you the file size is still greater than 250K, instead of compressing, go to Picture / Resize, and select 800x600. In most cases, that should result in a file less than 250KB. If you really want to post a picture way bigger than that, do the old Photobucket (or otherwise) trick and post the picture using the old school "img" tags (and Photobucket or whomever pays for the data storage, not the forum).
