I finally finished my seat project. I added two 6 " linear actuators to my helm seat to make it move forward and back just by hitting a switch. I added a link to You Tube if any one is interested.

definitely cool! On my list as well, probably will start in a couple of weeks. Did you look into a car/power seat setup? I wouldn't mind getting some height adjustment also but that would be a bonus. Front to back solves 90% of my problem.

I thought about using a car set up but wasn't sure how the setup would work with the wide seat. I bought the actuators used on E-bay for $60. I have about $150 in it with the mounts and wiring. It would be nice to raise the seat but I stand on the foot rest to look over my windshield when needed.

Cool! I plan on working on something similar over the winter. I found some 12v geared head electric seat motors on Amazon for short money. I'm very tall, so when I sit down I see the top of the drivers window frame. So, I either have to stand up or sit with a serious slouch, both are not comfy.

really cool !
For me, I'd like to be able to raise the helm at times, but I mean REALLY raise it.
Not 2" but as much as 8 - 10 - 12"
Twin hydraulic or air cylinders mounted down into the seat base could make this happen.
Of course, my upholstery really needs replacement first.
Your project delivers great results.

I'm out of the water and starting the think about what I want to do with the helm seat. It would be cool if it swiveled around and faced the stern when not underway. Or, could the back be hinged so it flipped to the front to accomplish the same thing? Thinking out loud....

I had a Regal 277 that had a helm seat that back flipped. Worked great.
