Nylon cable clamps... How could you make bad ones?

A seemingly simple thing gone wrong. I ran out of nylon cable/wire clamps at some point over the past year or two. I remember picking up a bag a HD. Fast forward to now and of the twenty or so I've stumbled across every one was broken. Amazing because very few of the 25 year old clamps were broken.
So, it might be worth paying the extra money and stick with name brand clamps.

most of the white ones are not uv stable and dont last long even with minimal uv exposure. Ive had good luck with uv stable black ones from HD.

Always have to be aware of how long some products may have been sitting on the shelf. UV is a killer for some plastics, rubber, etc.

Todd,
I remember reading that when I was looking at zip ties there. Funny thing is I most of these don't see any light at all. I found two the other day that I added inside the gunnel when I relocated the shore power.
I'll do a little test, I'm going to take one HD clamp and one Ancor brand and put them on a full exposure window sill. I'll post back and see how they hold up.

I have, in the past, used them to tie a small burgee to the VHF antenna. If they didn't break mid to late season ( 3-4 months ) they were done by haul out.
