weight comparisons

In my ongoing research of diesel conversions, I am wondering if anyone knows the difference in weight between a Crusader 454 (with exchanger) set-up and a potential Cummins 6bta set-up. I'm figuring weight is going to be a major factor in a remote v-drive configuration. Also, is there a large difference in dimensional size?

...and for informational purposes, this model came with the optional Cat 3116, which I am assuming is heavier than the Cummins.

The Yanmar 6 LP is 899 lbs without marine gear.

It is taller, narrower and longer than the 454.

The Cummins is in fact taller than the Yanmar and was therefore not a candidate for my 10 Meter, as I would not cut the deck.

While it meets US EPA tier I and II requirements, it does not meet tier three and is no longer commercially available in the US.

It is a mechanical diesel, not common rail.

The Cummins 6@BTA 330 & 370 are 1280 lbs in marine trim no gear box

Todd:

If you are considering a diesel upgrade, here's some preliminary Floscan data on mine:

3+ NMPG at displacement speeds

1.2 - 1.3. NMPG at cruising speeds which seems to be a fairly flat curve until 22 kts where it begins to drop to 1.1 NMPG at 3400 RPM.

I BELIEVE THESE NUMBERS ARE A JUST BIT SHY OF ACTUAL, AND I WILL PUBLISH A NEW CURVE AFTER MY NEXT FILL UP/CALIBRATION TAKES PLACE.

Thanks RWS. Trying out a viable option. I like the Yanmars but they're expensive. That's why I was looking into the remanned Cummins options.
